Question + follow-up list
Listening 1: Why are you considering a move now?
Listen for tone, specificity and risk.
Answer A
I’m considering a move because I think I’ve been in the same company for a long time, and I don’t see many opportunities there. I like the company, but I feel a little stuck, so I’m looking for something better.
Answer B
I wouldn’t frame it as frustration. I’ve grown a lot where I am, and I respect the experience I’ve had there. But at this point in my career, I’m ready for a natural next step. I’m looking to take on more scope, broader responsibilities and more exposure to strategic decisions, ideally in a more international environment.
Practice 1: career move answer
Use the chunks, but don’t memorise the full answer.
Useful chunks
Listening 2: handling pressure
From generic pressure to specific business impact.
Answer A
I work well under pressure. One time my manager was away, and I had to do a lot of things. It was very stressful, but I managed everything and nothing went wrong.
Answer B
A good example was when my manager was away for two weeks and I had to cover part of his workload on top of my own. There were tight deadlines and significant financing operations in progress, so I had to prioritise hard, align with the team and make sure nothing slipped. It was a high-pressure period, but the deals went through and it showed me that I can take on broader responsibilities.
Practice 2: pressure answer
Use pressure language from previous classes.
Pressure chunks
Listening 3: difficult feedback
Mature answer without sounding defensive.
Answer A
I once received feedback from someone at work, and honestly I didn’t like it. I thought the person was rude and I didn’t fully agree, but I said okay and moved on.
Answer B
I once received feedback that caught me off guard. I didn’t fully agree with the way it was delivered, but I tried to focus on the message rather than the tone. I acknowledged the point, adjusted my approach and reflected on how important it is to read the room and adapt my communication style to the context.
Practice 3: difficult feedback
Use mature, interview-safe language.
Feedback chunks
Transfer: current responsibilities
Short, clear and treasury-specific.
Payments
make sure payments and wire transfers go through
Liquidity
maintain enough liquidity to meet obligations
Surplus cash
allocate surplus cash to short-term investments
Model answer
My main responsibility is to make sure payments and wire transfers go through smoothly, and that the company maintains enough liquidity to meet its obligations. At the end of the day, we review the cash position, pay what needs to be paid, and allocate any surplus cash to short-term investments.
Transfer: process improvement
Use what we didn’t fully consolidate last time.
